Time flies when you’re having fun -- DALINA has been open for a year! Grazie Mille to the coffee lovers in Vancouver for welcoming us so warmly and supporting us in bringing a taste of fresh Italian cooking to the Chinatown neighbourhood.
Here’s a highlight reel of some of our top milestones over the past year.
Chef Simona Joined our Team
Chef Simona Bonelli brings to us over 20 years of restaurant experience, specializing in the cooking and creation of authentic Italian cuisine. Growing up in Terracina, a small coastal town in Southern Italy, Chef Simona spent her childhood surrounded by food and family. Given that DALINA specializes in fresh, Italian-inspired house made food, It’s no surprise that our kitchen and café feels as familiar as home to Chef Simona.
We Launched our New Menu
With Chef Simona’s expertise, we updated our seasonal menu and deli display, with fresh and flavourful foods reflective of Italian food culture and the colours of the Mediterranean – like our Tuna Gallego Salad. We also recently updated our selection of ‘things on toast’ to include: Porchetta (Italian roasted pork loin on a base of salsa verde, topped with a fried egg) and Nduja & Ricotta (buffalo ricotta whipped with lemon zest, topped with spicy sausage).
And as always, we cater towards dietary choices – we have a wide array of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan offerings. Just ask!
We Opened our Outdoor Patio
To the delight of our customers and just in time for summer, we opened our cozy outdoor patio. Throughout the spring, summer and fall, it’s been a busy spot for people-watching, catching up with friends or quick business meetings. During the colder months, the covered patio shelters from the Vancouver rain, and best of all, it’s heated so you can enjoy year-round.
We Introduced our Drinks Menu
With the opening of our outdoor patio, came the approval of our alcohol menu. YES, in addition to coffee and tea, we are also licenced to serve you beer, wine, and a selection of seasonal cocktails!
We Hosted our First-Ever Coffee Lab
A good cup of coffee is central to what we do at DALINA. So, we hosted our first-ever coffee lab, a 2-hour interactive workshop to educate our customers on the origins of coffee, how to brew your own at home and the art of pairing coffee and food.
We Launched Beetroot & Turmeric Lattes
Always on trend with health and wellness, DALINA launched turmeric and beetroot lattes on our regular menu. These pretty pastel pink and yellow beverages are a hit in-store and on social media. Speaking of which, are you following us on Instagram yet?
We Entered a Coffee Drink Challenge
Hosted by Vancouver Foodster, DALINA has entered into a creative coffee drink challenge with our Mi-Tiro-Su Latte, a take on our favourite Italian dessert. Created with espresso, Baileys, cream, milk, dark chocolate, and topped with lady fingers you'll find our newest drink irresistible. In Italian, Tiramisu means ‘I cheer you up”, while Mi-Tiro-Su is translated as ‘I cheer myself up’. So add some cheer, and give us a vote here between now and February 4, 2018.
